Stragglers 2007 AGM
Hello,
I am sorry that it has taken this discourteous amount of time to advise you of the result of the voting for the 10 available places on the committee.
As you know there were 12 nominees for the 10 places and it is therefore regrettable that two such will have been disappointed. As I stressed on Thursday evening the unsuccessful candidates should not feel slighted or be personally offended by the way the vote went. It is nothing more than the unfortunate side effect of democracy at work.
You know that Standing for the positions for general committee were as follows:-
Kirsty Bangham
Ian Callander
Nigel Collins
Chrissie Glew
Paul Graham
Peter Kennedy
Danny Norman
Orlando Pellicano
Roy Reeder
Pat Short
Dee Smale
Bertram Smith
The count was carried out by an independent panel of three comprising Andrew Lane, Colin Penn and Sue Waters.
The vote consisted of 76 ballot papers none of which were spoiled.
The count produced a generally tight set of competitive results figures with the lowest poll going to Dee Smale and Danny Norman.
It is therefore Dee and Danny who have not been elected to this years committee.
May I on behalf of Andrew Lane as chair last year and myself as his deputy for the last couple of months say a grateful thanks to Dee and Danny for all the splendid work that they undertook and carried out within their individual committee duty periods.
Many will enjoy the companionship and success of the Stragglers without the knowledge of the hard work and effort that is so freely given by those who serve on their behalf.
It is difficult to find any free time these days to do the things that you would like to do, it is therefore a great credit to you both for giving up your valuable time to help to move our club forward. Please believe me when I say that your commitment has been much appreciated.
It is certainly my hope that you will both at some time in the future once again offer yourselves for re election so that the club can benefit further from your enterprise and expertise.
Regards
Keith
