Training Sessions
Details of our training sessions, including where/when to meet are shown below. . Very ocasionally there are last minute changes to plans and where possible we will list those here.
We've recently introduced additional sessions including strength and conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday morning, 9:40 am at Bushy Park Sports Club, and Duncan's Riverside Drive sessions have returned, 7pm every Tuesday evening.

Hampton Hill Group |
This is the smallest* group in the Stragglers and meets at 7:30pm by the Hampton Hill Gate to Bushy Park (opposite the United Reformed Church). |

Tuesday | Speed / Endurance |
A number of sessions are offered by Kev Best throughout the day to enable as many people as possible to find one that suits them. Please click on "read more" for details of what's on and where. 6:40 am session meets at Teddington Gate 9:40 am session also meets at Teddington Gate. This is a fast interval session. There is a 10:30am structured session including warm-ups, drills, technique and running (fast intervals and sprints). Suitable for beginners and anybody returning to running or from injury (5k in 26 mins or slower). Contact Sophie Biggs for more information or if you would like to attend a session. 7pm Duncan Gaskell is offering an interval session starting on Riverside Drive by the end of the path to Teddington Lock. There will be approx 25 minutes of speed training featuring "out and back" intervals so all abilities are very welcome. Please be there at 18:55pm warmed up and ready for a prompt start at 7pm. This is a great introduction to "quality" training if you haven't done it before. Kev leads a session at St Mary's track (from 18 Jan 2022) at 7:30pm for faster runners. |

Thames Ditton Group | Meet at Thames Ditton Cricket Club, Giggs Hill Green, just before 7pm. Alternating group runs one week with structured training the following week (intervals, hills or mile time trial). Strength & Conditioning Stragglers Club Night |
Meet Bushy Park Sports Club at 9.40am for a strength and conditioning session.
Our Thursday evening run groups meet at Bushy Park Sports Club and aim to start running at 7pm sharp. We offer a variety of paces and distances, from 4 miles to 9 miles. The Stragglists bike ride has been stopped for the winter but will be starting again in spring when the weather and light are better. |

Saturday | Tempo or Fartlek | Meet at 8:45 by Teddington Gate in Bushy Park. The start times are on the dot. Warm up and drills need to be completed before starting the session. You will be advised not to take part if you jump off your bike at the last minute and consider yourself warmed up and ready to go. | |
Sunday, | Steady Run - Bushy Park | This attracts runners of all abilities. Meet at 9am in The Pheasantry carpark for a group warm-up/mobilisation session. The group then sets-off as one but soon separates into small groups or solo runners.The course varies from 5k to 10k to eight miles and beyond - usually in Bushy Park and on the towpath between Hampton Court and Kingston. Most runners hang-around afterwards for a stretch and a coffee. | |
Sunday, | Long Run - Richmond Park | If you are interested in attending please email Phil Davies who will confirm whether a run is planned and the start details. Runs will be 10-13 miles long. Pace is likely to be 8:30 - 8:45 (minutes per mile) as preference will be given to trail routes, with a few hills thrown in. It's essential you join Phil's email list for this group as the times and locations can vary depending on availability and other races. | |
