Wedding Day 7k

Start Date: 28 Jul 2017 19:30

End Date: 28 Jul 2017 21:30

Venue: Bushy Park

Why the "Wedding Day"? The race was first run on Thursday 29 July 1981, which was a bank holiday marking the wedding day of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales.

The race was then organised by the London Road Runners Club: when this club ceased to exist, the Stragglers took over the organisation. Rumour has it that when the race was first planned, there was some discussion about whether to go round the loop in Bushy park twice, or three times to make it a 10 km race. The organisers repaired to the pub to discuss these possibilities - the rest, as they say, is history.

This year it is on Friday 28th July. Entries are via the Sports Systems website here. The race starts and finishes near the Hampton Hill cricket club here

If anybody can't run in the race but would like to be involved, please contact Simon Brazil email with offers to help out, marshal, and in particular if you are a first-aider.
