You can now join The Stragglers or renew your membership online in our membership store

We have over 550 members of whom approx. 60% are veterans (men over 40 and women over 35). Membership is available for children of members who must accompany them on runs on all club nights. We do not offer any coaching or training facilities for children, though there is now a Junior Handicap on summer handicap nights, The course is entirely within the grounds of the Hawker Centre.
We do have membership for dogs who proudly wear their own club kit on runs.

The Stragglers is affiliated to England Athletics and so members of the club can elect to register with this organisation. Only registered athletes will be eligible to compete in national and regional championships or in events organised by England Athletics and their competition organising associates such as the Surrey Cross Country League. Unregistered athletes will also need to pay the unattached levy (currently £2) when entering events permitted by England Athletics. This includes many races entered by members of The Stragglers. The club will forward membership details and the fees to England Athletics and they will issue membership cards and competition licenses in September 2007. Registration costs £3 for 2007-8 and £5 for 2008 9 and is only for first claim members over 11 years of age.

Current Membership fees (2008/9)

• Adult £5 (or you can pay £10 to last for two years)
• Children £2 (£4 for two years)
• Dogs £1 (£2 for two years)
• England Athletics registration for 2007-8 £3
• England Athletics registration for 2008-9 £5

• Second claim members (i.e. first claim members of another running club) are also welcome.

New Members

Before you decide to join, we strongly recommend that you come to one of our runs to make sure that we are the right sort of club for you. If you have already done some running, and can cover 3 or 4 miles (or more) our Thursday meeting at the Hawker Centre is the best one to start with. There are changing rooms, showers, and you can meet us in the bar afterwards.
If you are more of a beginner, try our Little Feet group, that meets on a Monday.

Current Members

Current members can renew their membership and/or add England Athletics registration at the online store or use the postal method below.

If you you are renewing your membership and wish to be registered with England Athletics please either use the online store or complete and sign a membership form so that we can be sure that we have your details correct and your agreement that we can forward the minimum details on to England Athletics.

Membership Cards

Traditional membership cards along with their self-laminating holders cost the club about £0.70.  Members who join or renew online or supply an email address on their application form will be sent an email membership card. Ths card can be stored and printed out whenever proof of membership is required.
