Heroics At Lloyd Park

17 hardy souls battled the hills and mud of Lloyd Park on Saturday to finish the Surrey League campaign and confirm Straggler Men in third place overall.

Straggler men were 3rd on the day behind Striders of Croydon and Fulham Runners but well in front of the rest of the division including West 4 Harriers and  local rivals 26.2, among others.  Overall a very good result particularly considering the challenges we had with runners absent for all sorts of reasons on this particular fixture.  Particularly gratifying was that this was actually our second best performance of the Surrey League campaign, so thank you again for the heroic efforts of the team at Lloyd Park.

The full results are here.

 Surrey League Final Table

The final league table confirms Striders of Croydon and Fulham Runners in first and second place with Stragglers holding off a late challenge from West 4 Harriers to finish in third place.  This is very heartening and reflects the strong performances of the team over the season.  Particularly encouraging has been the consistently big turn outs by the Straggler Men all year.

Notable individual performances throughout the season include Simon Ford (3rd V40), Roy Reeder (1st V50), and Malcolm Fletcher (5th V50).
