When and where we meet
All our meetings start at 7.30 pm and are never called off because of bad weather. Some of us actually like running in the rain and snow.
Thursdays
This is the main gathering of the week and there can be anything from 50 up to even 100 people turning up - most of them come to run, but a few may come just for the social evening. We meet at Hawker Leisure in Lower Ham Road (just off Richmond Road),
where anyone in Stragglers kit will show you where you can leave your kit, tell you
what's going on, and help you to find someone to run with.

We start with a Social "Mile" and then divide up into informal groups to run their
desired distance and pace. Richmond Park is the most popular destination but there is
an infinite number of routes in the parks, along the river, or round the local streets
in Richmond, Twickenham and Teddington.
At the Thursday run we have changing and shower facilities at Hawker Leisure, and we
then meet for a drink in the bar. At 9.30 our Veteran Club Captain Keith Haworth gets
up on a chair to yell "Your attention please for some brief announcements", the rest
of us joining in to emphasise the word brief. You might not think that a series
of administrative announcements could turn into a session of banter and heckling but
it does.
On the last Thursday in the month we hold our
5km handicap.
Our long established beginners? group, Little Feet, meets every Monday at 7.30 at The Albion in Fairfield Road. Map. It is aimed at first time runners or those who feel unsure about running alone or in the dark, especially women. There are slow, short runs, from two miles including stops and some walking, up to about five miles. Experienced runners act as leaders and minders. Afterwards we meet up in the pub.

There is another Monday evening run of 3 or 4 miles, from the Rising Sun in Hampton Hill High Street (gate into Bushy Park, opposite United Reformed Church). This was where your webmaster started his running career in 1978 or 79, before the Stragglers were even thought of.

One group meets at 7.30 on Tuesdays on the corner of Ham Common, opposite The Hand and Flower. This is a more serious training session than our other meetings and may include interval work, hill sessions, and the like. As with all our meetings, we cater for a wide range of abilities. We usually have a drink, in the Hand and Flower, afterwards, but there are no changing facilities.

Another Tuesday group meets at Thames Ditton Cricket Club on Giggs Hill Green, starting at 7.30 p.m.

If you are new to running you will find that running in a group is much more fun and
safer. So rather than run on your own come and join our very friendly running club.
This session is ideal for beginners, social runners or someone coming back after illness
or injury.
If you would like to know more about the Tuesday group please contact Alan Pemberton
