Some background and history of this site.

September 2005:
The list of links on the LH side of each page has been much shortened, and replaced by a separate contents page. This page itself needs some reshaping. Jim Desmond results section has been moved to this site.

January 2004:
The race results section has been taken over by Jim Desmond, and is hosted by him on a separate site. Links have been changed, so the whole system should appear seamless to users.

June 2003:
Our monthly magazine, Stragmag, has a new editor, Evan Bond. Not only has he given the magazine a bright new look, each number is put on the website, where it may be viewed in full colour. See the Stragmag link on the left for the index.

July 2002:
In response to a request I extended the list of race results and will now leave these on the site for at least a year. Do let me know if you find this useful.
Subsequently, the race results section was taken over by Jim Desmond (see above).

May 2001:
This web site, originally prepared by Colin Penn, and subsequently smartened up by Ben Bangham, has now been taken over by Mike Bangham (Ben's Dad) to whom all correspondence should be addressed. (Mike.Bangham@care4free.net) Now I am retired I have time to play about with web sites, and I do my best to keep this up to date. However, I am always pleased to receive (constructive) comments, suggestions, corrections etc.
If you want to see my own web site work, look at my other site which is all about one of my other hobbies - bellringing.

January 2001:
And a happy new year to you all. May 2001 bring all the PB's you've ever wanted and a whole lot more besides. On a personal note my new running diary is looking rather void of any actual runs so far this year due to a new job. However I now cycle about 25 miles a day on my commute in to London so the general fitness is still ok. As reflected on our newly updated Startline page Your webmaster is now a signed and sealed member of the Stragglers Committee - my first meeting on Wednesday 10th Jan brought some useful feedback and discussion concerning the website and what directions it will be moving in over the next few months. Further details are available on the home page.

December 2000:
So, another day, another dollar. The Webmaster would like to offer excuses for not updating this diary for the whole of November due to circumstances beyond his control (ie terminal laziness) not to mention a new job. However things have moved on a little and the site is now more or less stable in terms of design. A few bits and pieces have been added or updated including the whizz bang "choose your month" feature on the handicap results page. Any offers of assistance in compiling some (all?!?) of the previous results gratefully accepted.

October 2000:
A calm month. Create fantastic dynamic website integrated with simple database to enable easy upkeep and day to day running of site. This works perfectly on pc at home. Upload entire thing to stragglers.org whereupon it falls over and breaks. Scrap overambitious dreams and stick with original, simple website. This seems a little more stable.

September 2000:
Internet service provider decide to have a major telecomms breakdown, causing all internet access at the webmaster's home to slow to a crawl. Computer crashes (regularly). Webmaster loses all strags website files and has to start again from scratch. Find all files again. Webmaster loses mind; gives up on Windows and installs Linux instead. Take up running again after about 10 years inactivity- lose a stone over the following 8 weeks.

September 2000:
A note is published in the StragMag telling all who cared to read that the website would henceforth be maintained and updated by Mike and Ben Bangham. Some more design ideas are batted around at home (mostly between the hours of midnight and 3am due to my inability to sleep). A test site with a few basic pages is uploaded to www.bangham.com as a temporary measure while the webmaster forgets to find out how to send things to the stragglers site.

August 2000:
First thoughts about helping maintain the Strags site. Download whole existing website and begin to play with it.

May 2000: (about a week later)
Webmaster sinks into depression as reality kicks in- 3 visits to his fledgling website and two of those were his mum. Contingency plan put in motion (go to Brook St. and get job).

May 2000:
The webmaster registers his very own domain name: zass.bangham.com and sets out along the road to e-fortune, daydreaming of wealth, fame and a new computer.
