Stragglers secure spots in final Surrey match

Both the women and men's XC teams secured their places in Division 1 and Division 2 respectively in the Surrey League with strong performances in the final match.

The women raced at Wimbledon Common, where the A team finished 6th and the B team 9th. Sarah Holt was the first home, finishing 8th.

The men were racing at Lloyd Park where the A team finished 9th and the B team were 5th, and Andrew Hess was the first finisher.

In Division 1 the women finished 10th. Sarah, Pamela McHutchon and Lynda Chase finished first in their respective age groups, while Nic Douglas was second in 35+ and Tara Holt finished third in 55+.

In Division 2, the men finished 8th overall and Malcolm Fletcher topped the 65+ age group while Peter Gregorowski finished 4th in 45+.

Elsewhere, seven Stragglers raced in the Farnborough Winter Half. Claire Curtin was the first to finish in a PB of 1:27:11 while Dean Morley was the first man to finish in 1:32:32. Rachel O'Gara-Lu was racing over the distance for the first time and finished in 2:30:33.
