Pamela and Merilyn earn England vest
Pamela McHutchon and Merilyn Davis will both don an England vest this year after strong performaces at the Forest of Dean Trail half marathon which was a British Masters qualifying race. Pamela finished first in F65 with a time of 1:57:05 while Merilyn finished in fourth place with a time of 2:02:57. Pamela was also an age group winner in the British Trail Running Championships. Congratulations to both!

Pavel and Nic crowned WGP winners
After 12 events over seven wet winter months, the Winter Grand Prix is over and Pavel Przepiorski and Nic Douglas can be crowned as the winners of the Open and Women's events. Pavel topped the Open rankings with a maximum of 175 points from his five scoring events, ahead of Peter Gregorowski (171 points) and Austin Molnar (166). The three of them won their respective age categories, and both Pavel and Austin completed all 12 events. Other age group winners were Crispin Alle

Lisa tackles top flight 5k
With a number of major marathons fast approaching, many members were tapering this weekend. Lisa Bailey wasn't one of them. Focusing on shorter distances this season, Lisa was at the Top Flight 5k at Battersea where she finished third in 16:52, a new PB. Lisa also set her previous BP - 6:58 - at Battersea last July. Slightly closer to home Oli Bowers competed in the Fulham and Putney Half Marathon. Oli won the event, finishing in 1:15:14.

Pam Whitter sees more Vets success
Pam Whitter continued to impress on the masters circuit after her age group success at the Veterans AC XC in January. Pam clocked up 20:40 at the 5k Masfers race at Battersea Park, finishing 15th among the women.

Cranleigh wraps up the Winter Grand Prix
There was a large turnout for the final event in the Winter Grand Prix, the Cranleigh 7-14-21. T he shortest distance proved to be the more popular one with members but the club put on a good show over all three distances. Pavel Przepiorski was the first finisher over the shortest distance, completing the seven miles in 41:37. Marathoners deliver big results
Our mighty marathoners delivered some big results over half the distance this weekend. Tony Finn led the way, notching up PBs on both Saturday and Sunday (1:32:42 and 1:28:34) having done back to back halves in Prague and Berlin. In doing so Tony completed his Super Six. Andy Anstey (1:37:07) and Alfonzo Pereira (1:41:30) also competed in Berlin. Tony is targeting London and Alfonzo will return to Berlin in Setember. Stragglers enjoy the fine weather
Stragglers were out in force this weekend enjoying the fine weather at races, long Sunday runs or their local parkruns. The biggest race was the Surrey Half Marathon in Woking where the club was represented by seven members. Oli Bowers was the first to finish in 33rd position and a time of 1:12:15, while Sarah Holt was our fastest woman, finishing second in 1:15:35. Lisa Bailey was fourth in 1:18:31. Stragglers tackle the longer distances
It was another weekend of longer distance races this weekend, with many members tackling half marathons. Some didn't have to go too far with another Hampton Court Half happening on Sunday. Simon Connolly was the first Straggler to finish in 1:17:56, followed by Adam Davies in a time of 1:28:51. Stragglers out in force for weekend races
Stragglers were out in force this weekend for races, with nearly 30 members competing in the Kingston Breakfast run series. Sarah Holt was first woman over the 20 miles distrance, finishing fourth overall in1:58:36, three weeks after she finished as first woman at the Hampton Court Half. Elmbridge RR get mobbed while Ian Abbots
Saturday saw another large turnout for a mob event as Elmbridge Road Runners challenged the Stragglers to a mob match at the parkrun at Crane Park. The overall result was never in doubt as 75 Stragglers completed the two lap 5k circuit against 33 from the hosts. HM season kicks off in Wokingham
This weekend saw the first big UK spring half marathon at Wokingham with 22 club members competing at the increasingly popular event. Pete Gregorwoski was our first finisher with a time of 1:19:06, closely followed by Lisa Bailey who finished in 1:19:23. Lisa was the sixth woman to finish and won her category. Wet, wild weekend of PBs
Club members defied wet, windy conditions on Sunday to notch up an impressive array of personal bests and strong performances across a number of races. The largest contingent of Stragglers was racing in Chessington at the Valentines 10k where 50 members completed the race, winning Stragglers the mob trophy. Sophie confronts the elements
Floods, mud and squall - Sophie Biggs faced it all when she competed in the UK Ultra Hibernal Hills 50 mile race on the South Downs last Saturday. None of it stopped Sophie from producing another superb performance, the first woman to finish and 7th overall in a time of 9:20:20.

Stragglers secure spots in final Surrey match
Both the women and men's XC teams secured their places in Division 1 and Division 2 respectively in the Surrey League with strong performances in the final match. The women raced at Wimbledon Common, where the A team finished 6th and the B team 9th. Sarah Holt was the first home, finishing 8th. A weekend of shorter runs
Last weekend it was all about the 5k. With no XC to distract our competitive runners, everyone seemed to chasing 5k times. In total 225 Stragglers completed a parkrun on Saturday at one of 59 separate parkrun events. Nearly half of those Stragglers stayed close to home and ran at Bushy but the club was represented far and wide across the parkrun map with Phil Davies finishing 31st at Y Promen âd parkrun in 23:02 while Ian Peggs was 17th at Wanaka in New Zealand in 24:02.

Stragglers face off to Ingrid
Nearly 20 Stragglers brushed off the threat of stormy weather to head to Beckenham Palace Park for this weekend’s Southern XC championships. Sophie Biggs led the women home, finishing 58th in 31:38 while Pete Gregorowski was fastest man in 223rd with a time of 57:13. Sophie wins again in the Downs
Sophie Biggs made a victorious return to the Downs after her utlra win in November, by winning the South Downs and Arundel Marathon on Sunday. Sophie finished in 4:13, while David Stevenson was 22nd in 4:34. The 44 course along the South Downs Way covered 2780 feet of elevation. Before Christmas Sophie won the 50k 5 trails ultra.

Almost a clean sweep at year's first mob match
Stragglers finished the first mob match of the year by winning all but one of the prizes on Sunday. Racing away from home against 26.2, Stragglers won the match overall with 109 participants against 95 for the home team. Stragglers also claimed first man and first woman with Ollie Garner finishing 1st overall in 17:31 while Claire Curtin was 18th in 20:28. Age group success for Pam, Ramona and Sally
Pam Witter and Ramona Thevenet finished first and third in V65 age group at the Veterans AC Open XC championships on Wimbledon Common on Saturday. Pam completed the 7.5km course in 35:16 finishing 33rd and ninth among the women. Ramona was 51st overall, finishing in a time of 41:25. Sally Boulton also produced an excellent age group performance, finishing the Torbay Velopark parkrun in 25:59 which gave her a 90.12% age grading score and second place in the age grade ranking

Strong performances at Surrey XC
Match 3 of the Surrey XC league saw strong performances and a great turnout by both teams. Sarah Holt brought the women’s team home with a superb 7th place finish while Andrew Hess was the fastest finisher in the men’s team in 13th place.
