Stragglers up their distances

After a summer spent racing shorter distances, a large number of club members returned to half and full marathon competition this weekend. Four Stragglers tackled the Berlin Marathon with Sonia Bandeira the first to finish in 3:19:08, followed by Lex Prince (3:31:36), Alfonso Altamar Pereira (3:41:58) and Catherine Fennell (3:37:09)

Closer to home Matthias Werner completed the Dorney Lake marathon in 2:52:19 while Tony Finn led a group of four club members home in the Windsor Half, finishing in 1:32:50, ahead of Ian Hawkes (1:49:50), Simon Webb (1:49:50) and Leoni Thomas (2:18:56).

Ben Osborn and Jim Desmond completed the Barnes Green Half in 1:25:26 and 1:28:43 respectively, while Neil Carrington (1:48:23), Sarah Fogden (2:12:29) and Mirella Genziani (2:37:58) competed in the Ealing Half.

While hers was not a long distance race, Lynda Chase travelled nearly 2000km to get to the event - the World Triathlon SuperSprint Championships in Pontevedra in Spain, where she finished fourth in her age group.
