Richard Gray was in the right place at the right time when the iconic Scilly60 Tide Race happened last week, finishing 43rd out of 87 competitors in a time of 2:24. The half marathon can only take place when the tides are right and that won't happen again for three years.
The race starts on the beach at Tresco with a dash across a sand bar where the water was knee-high at one point. After turning at a rock midway, competitors run 10k around the island before returning to the sand to run around Bryher before a final dash across the water.
"The scenery was fantastic and the atmosphere brilliant," said Richard, shown above crossing the finish line. "Competitive but in the spirit of a fun run."
