Stragglers out in force at mega parkrun

While the River Relay attracted a large number of Stragglers, enough for 13 teams, participation was dwarfed by the club turnout at Bushy parkrun the previous day. Event 1000 attracted a staggering 6204 participants including 148 Stragglers. It was made possible by a record 134 volunteers with at least 20 club members on the volunteering team.

While there were too many to mention individually, a handful deserve a shout out including Jonathan Dickinson, who was Run Director for the event, ably supported by Andy Howarth. Duncan Scoble captured the occasion in his run report which includes some wonderful photos. And long after everyone had gone home Carol Dickinson and Sue Howarth worked tirelessly through Saturday night, along with their other halves, to process the results.

Thanks to all those club members who helped out on the day and helped make it such a memorable occasion. Rob Eveson was the first Straggler to finish in 16:23 which earnt him 15th position, while Nicole Hamilton was our fastest woman with a time of 19:18 and 240th position. Both have occupied first finisher spots at parkrun previously, although on those occasions there weren't quite so many people participating.....
