Wedding Day triumphs

Over 150 members either raced or volunteered at last Friday’s Wedding Day 7, helping to make it a fabulous occasion.  Thanks to the immaculate planning by Tracey Lenthall and Pavel Przepiorski, as well as fantastic support from the wider team, the event was almost faultless.  And to cap it all Stragglers won a large number of the event's prizes.

Our women won their race, led by Lisa Bailey who finished 2nd in 24:43 and won the title of fastest local runner. Sarah Palmer was 3rd woman in 25:33  while Sophie Biggs and Nicky Hornzee made up the team, and finished second and third in their age group.

The men produced a superb performance to finish second to Ranleagh with Simon Mumme the first home in 17th and 24:11, and a worthy winner of fastest local man.  Austin Molnar, Kieran Parker and Ian Riley made up the team. 

Toby Finn took the junior men’s prize in 40:53 and Alfie Rowan was second in 43:08, while Pam Whitter won her age group with a time of 30:46. 

In fact Stragglers dominated the +65 age group taking all three podium spots in the women (Patricia Ronksley and June Hall) while Phil Hammet was third in the Open 65+.
