A weekend of weather extremes

Six Stragglers headed to Valencia for some winter sun and the last major marathon this year.  Sarah Holt was the first Straggler to finish in 2:40:24 which gave her fourth position in her age group.  Lisa Bailey wasn’t far behind finishing 2:46:24 and seventh in the same age group. 

Sam Hawthorn finished in under three hours in 2:57:26 followed by Freysan Maritz in 3:06:20.  Claire Curtin (3:15:12) and Alex Dunstan (4:28:19) also competed.

Sophie Biggs, meanwhile, may have been wishing for sun or at least better weather as she completed the Endurance Life Dorset Ultra in wild winds and plenty of mud. Sophie was fastest woman, finishing sixth overall in 5:30:06. Also competing in Ultras, Ben Osborn completed the Hurtwood 50k in 5:16:47 while Ian Chappell finished in 9:43:07.
