After last week's XC cancellation, there was an opportunity to put the spikes back on and revel in the mud at Lloyd Park. Both the women and men's teams were racing at the South of the Thames Championships.
However, the first shout out has to go to Andrew Churchill who finished third in the Centurion Winter Downs 200 in a time of 55.06.52. While Andrew has done a couple of 50 and !00 milers he only completed his first 24 hour race last year. He maintains he has no particular skill for ultra running but managed an average pace including rests of 5.75 mph/6 kph. A fantastic achievement!
Also making the podium and clocking up the miles this weekend was Sophie Biggs who was the third female finisher in the Celtic Christmas Ultra. Sophie completed the 55km couse in 5:36.06.
Back in Croydon, Rhys Doherty led the men home, finishing 14th in a time of 42:56 while Rebecca Gravell was the fastest female finisher for the club when she crossed the line in a time of 58:29 in180th place,

Finally, enjoying slightly less brutal conditions, Emily Barrow notched up a new PB in the Battersea Park 10k finishing in 46:20. Congratulations to everyone who raced.
