Stragglers out in force for weekend races

Stragglers were out in force this weekend for races, with nearly 30 members competing in the Kingston Breakfast run series.

Sarah Holt was first woman over the 20 miles distrance, finishing fourth overall in1:58:36, three weeks after she finished as first woman at the Hampton Court Half. Oli Bowers was our fastest finisher, taking second place overall in 1:54:34. Age group winners included Steve Smith (2:32:17) in V65, Nicky Hornzee in V45 in the 16 mile race (1:53:15), Alfie Rowan in U18 over eight miles (1:05:35), and Lynda Chase in V70 (1:21:59).

Sophie Biggs travelled a lot further for her race, having been selected to represent Middlesex at the Intercounties championships in Nottingham (Nic Douglas was also selected but chose not to race). Sophie finished 104th in a time of 32:17 and helped the team to 7th place.

Claire Curtin was the first Straggler to finish at the Paddocks Wood Half finishing in 1:26:09 which was a personal best. Sarah and Ian Bell also achieved PBs of 1:48;49 and 1:53:41 respectively
