Trustees appointed at AGM

The new trustee board responsible for oversight of the club following its transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), was elected at Thursday's AGM at Bushy Sports Club.

Four members stood for the four office positions and were elected unopposed - Kevin Price as Chair, Phil Hall as Treasurer, Anne Woods at Secretary and Phil Davies as Captain. In addition two general trustees were elected with Izabel Grindal and Lucy Chambers the successful candidates.

The AGM also approved the minutes of the last AGM and Special General Meeting held in November, as well as the annual accounts and the election of Steve Smith as honorary auditor.

Phil made a proposal to increase the club membership subscription from £25 to £26, an increase of 4% and in line with other running clubs. While the club had a good year generating £119,000 in income we still ended the year with a small deficit of £1,000.

The proposal was approved unanimously.

Kevin gave the meeting a short summary of the past 12 months which included the CIO transition, updating of our kit and renewing our partnership agreement with BPSC. Among the sporting achievements highlighted by Kevin, and team captains Helene Hill and Simon Brazil, was the England representation by six of our women, as well as the performances of both teams in XC with the women finishing fifth in D1 and the men achieving a 'Great Escape' and avoiding relegation in D2. Stragglers can now boast four women who are ranked in the top 10 in their age groups in the half marathon or marathon distances.

Other achievements included running a Leadership In Running Fitness (LIRF) session for 10 club members and seven members of other clubs, another successful Couch to 5k programme, and the club achieving seven out of seven of the England Athletics club standards.

The meeting ended with the award of life membership to Alan Mawdsley for all the support he gives the club, often unseen, including manging the club database, updating the website and publishing our race results.
