It was anothersuccessful year for the annual junior handicap series, writes Merran Sell. Approximately 45 young runners participated and the number of Minis rose to nine from just a couple last year. Also last year no more than five runners completed every race whereas this year 14 won Heroes medals for that achievement.

For the organising team it was really great to see all the Minis and Juniors enjoying themselves and their enthusiasm for the events.
We also need to acknowledge and thank all of those parents and friends who helped marshall the events.
The relay event was another success, drawing a big crowd and raising money for Princess Alice Hospice. It did seem that some of the adults and alumni juniors were taking the event more seriously than the children.
The team competitions were closely fought this year as there were only one or two points difference, especially in the Team Trophy competition, but it was Smarties which won both the team and mob awards. William Gregory won this year’s points competition and Georgina Warner won the points competition for Minis.
Awards will be presented on Thursday 9 October, starting at 7pm.
Editor’s note: Thanks is also due to Bert, Sue, Tom, Tim, Helen, Wendy, Simon and Merran for all their hard work on this year's series.
