Stragglers seeking a mid week challenge were spoilt for choice yesterday. The second of the Wimbledon Trail series offered five miles and Summer Grand Prix points. However, closer to home there was the popular Parkland Relays in Richmond Park. And if you didn’t fancy either there was even the weekly Arethusa Mile at Bushy.

Over 20 Stragglers opted for Wimbledon where James Ruskin was our fastest finisher with a time of 29:57 which gave him 16th place. Alastair Hall was next finishing 41st followed by Donovan Duffy in 45th. Sophie Biggs was our fastest woman in 33:07 which placed her fourth in the women’s race followed by Lex Prince and Pat Ronksley. Sophie, Pat and Steve Baller all won their age categories.

In Richmond Park six Stragglers teams took on some of south west London’s strongest clubs. The men’s teams finished 9th, 41st and 45th while the women’s teams were 23nd, 33rd and 40th.

And it was good to see some Stragglers holding their own as well as volunteering at the mile time trial at Bushy.
