Stragglers finish XC league on a high

It was a good weekend for the club as the Surrey XC league finished, with the women retaining 5th place in division one, and the men winning their relegation battle to finish 8th in division two.

The women raced at Epsom and Lisa Bailey led the team home, finishing 15th in a time of 30:35, followed by Sarah Holt in 18th and Eliza Hawthorn in 20th. The A team with five scoring finished 3rd on the day, while the B team finished 4th. Sarah, Emma Henston and Nic Douglas were also selected to represent Surrey and Middlesex at the Inter-Counties..

The men were at Croydon, and with another strong showing finished 7th and 5th (with 10 scoring for each team). Sonny Maund was our first finisher, crossing the line in 30:26 and 27th followed by Jim Lurkins (55th) and Pete Gregorowski (32:04). Malcolm Fletcher and Mark Pattinson finished fifth and sixth in the V60 age category.
