Stragglers shine in the Sunday heat

Stragglers turned out in force for road races on Sunday with 45 members completing the Ranelagh half marathon while others pounded the sun-drenched streets of Staines, Hampton Court and Oxford.

Oli Bowers was the fastest finisher in the Richmond race finishing sixth overall in 1:16:37, a new PB. Jacob Law-Sales who was the second Straggler to finish also notched up a new PB of 1:18:32.

Lisa Bailey won the women's race, and was the third Straggler to finish in 1:20:12. There were six PB performances from club members in total, the others coming from Rob Chambers, Matt Barbrook, Sarah Bell, and Iain Bell. Congratulations are also due to Nick Kennedy and Ed Randall for completing their first half marathons.
Further along the river, David Sheldon (41:39), Sally Boulton (1:06:34) and Veronica Beaney (1:21:12) completed the Hampton Court 10K, while Tim Haughian (35:01), Laurence Duffy (44:23) David Brewin (46:41) and Nicholas Brown (58:05) competed in the Staines 10k. Tim was the third finisher.
In Oxford Phyllis Flynn won her age group, finishing the 10k race in 45:30. Her result puts her 22nd in 2025 national rankings.
