Women finish in top 10 at Southerns

It was back to racing for the cross country teams after a week off, and both the women and men was competing at Beckenham at the South of England Athletic Association's main cross country championships.


The women produced a fantastic team result finishing ninth not far behind Herne Hill and Thames Valley Harriers. The men finished 24th, one place ahead of Epsom & Ewell who have dominated Surrey League Division 2 this season.

Sarah Holt led the women home finishing 28th in 00:29:03 followed by Emma Henston in 57th place (00:30:29) and Sophie Biggs 90th (00:32:04). Nicky Hornzee, Nicole Hamilton and Becky Gravell made up the team of six, while Libby Ferguson, Emily Wattret, Emily Barrow, Sally Boulton and Lynda Chase also competed.


For the men Rhys Doherty was first home in 53rd position and a time of 00:47:22. He was followed by Harry Tivnen in 146th (00:50:56) and Pete Gregorowski in 219th (00:53:17). Making up the team were James Darby, Dononvan Duffy and Alastair Hall. Malcolm Davies, Pavel Prezepiorski, Ian Hawkes, Mark Pattionson and Simon Brazil also competed.
